Senior Systems Engineer (L3)
Remote (Colombia / LATAM), US Pacific hours
$4,500 to $6,000 USD per month · Full-time, direct contract via Deel
About the role
We Solve Problems is a managed IT services provider in Los Angeles. We support small businesses, mostly law firms and professional services. We are a team of six, and we are hiring our first senior systems engineer to own technical escalations and lead our Microsoft and infrastructure projects.
This is a genuine Tier 3 role. If a previous "L3" title covered work that was really Tier 2, this likely is not the right fit, and that is okay. We need someone who can take a problem from first report to resolution without anyone reviewing the work behind them.
What you'll own
You will handle the technical escalations that currently reach our COO, so he can step out of daily firefighting. You will also lead our Microsoft and infrastructure projects end to end: tenant migrations, Intune and Autopilot rollouts, Exchange and SharePoint, server migrations, network builds, and security hardening. You will mentor our three junior technicians and lead the on-call rotation.
Escalations come first, but they will not fill every day. When the queue is quiet, you will move to project work or jump in wherever the team is short, including lower-level tickets when that is what keeps clients moving. We are a small team, so everyone helps where help is needed.
What we're looking for
Deep, hands-on Intune experience is the requirement that matters most. Not "I have used Intune," but "I can design an Intune and Autopilot rollout from scratch": configuration profiles, compliance policies, app deployment, Conditional Access.
You will also need strong Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Entra ID, mail flow, recovery), solid networking (Meraki, Fortigate, site-to-site VPN, VLAN design), and real security incident-response experience. We run a Mac fleet, so Jamf or Apple MDM experience is a plus, not a requirement.
Perfectly fluent English is a must, written and spoken. You will deal directly with executive clients who hold extremely high expectations, so your communication has to hold up under that, clear and confident on a call and on the page.
You work independently. You isolate a problem before you start changing things, you know when to escalate versus resolve, and you document as you go. Five years of MSP experience is a rough floor, but design ability matters more than the number. No degree required.
Hours and how we work
You work 9am to 6pm Pacific with an hour for lunch. For Colombia that is 11am to 8pm local. This is real-time overlap with the US team, not an overnight shift. We document everything in Autotask and Hudu, and we use Claude daily for ticket triage, summaries, and runbook drafting. Your time goes to real engineering, not copy-pasting from Stack Overflow.
Comp and engagement
$4,500 to $6,000 USD per month, full-time at 40 hours a week, paid as a fixed monthly rate through Deel. The band reflects a true Tier 3, and we will pay the top of it for the right person. This is a direct contract with us, not an agency placement, so the rate is what you take home (minus Deel's small fee), not what an agency keeps. We provide equipment, honor your country's national holidays, and back a real growth path from L3 to lead engineer or architect with a training and certification budget.
Our stack
Autotask PSA, NinjaOne RMM, Hudu documentation, Microsoft 365, Intune, modern security tooling. If you have worked with most of these, you will be productive quickly.
How we work together (our values)
We rate every hire and every quarter against these. They are not poster words.
- Demonstrate honesty and integrity. Set clear expectations so clients always know what is next.
- Commit to everything we do. Every ticket, every project, full attention.
- Take ownership. If you see a problem, it is yours until it is resolved or properly handed off.
- Do the right thing. Recommend what actually solves the client's problem, not what is easiest.
- Sweat the small stuff. Document so the next person can pick up where you left off.
